Rural Leadership Development
Strengthening Pastors, Churches, and Communities
The Need
Across the rural West, pastors and ministry leaders serve faithfully in some of the most challenging and under-resourced ministry environments in America.
Many lead alone, with limited training, limited support, and limited access to ongoing development. The consequences are real: churches without pastors, congregations struggling to stay healthy, and communities longing for spiritual stability.
IBL’s Rural Leadership Development project exists to change that story.
“In 2025, 24% of pastors said they considered stepping down during the year. It’s estimated that churches in the West experience an even higher 1-in-3 burnout rate. ”
The Opportunity
We are launching a focused leadership development initiative to equip rural pastors and ministry leaders across the western United States with biblical, practical, and sustainable training.
By providing high-quality, accessible training to rural leaders, we can:
Equip pastors with the tools they need to shepherd well.
Strengthen existing church plants and revitalize struggling congregations.
Support leaders who are planting in spiritually isolated areas.
Prevent the long-term damage caused by insufficient training and burnout.
IBL engages leaders in three major categories: Theology, Pastoral Skills, and Biblical Leadership. Our training is uniquely designed to weave together all three components into a formidable and robust program which will ensure that students have the foundation in theological truth, the practical ability to study and communicate God’s word, and the resources necessary to be the leader God intends them to be.
We are seeking to raise $36,000 to fully fund this initiative.
Would you prayerfully consider helping us meet this need?
Funds will cover:
Training materials and curriculum
In-person and virtual training events
Travel to remote rural locations
Ongoing coaching and support for ministry leaders
Every dollar directly strengthens pastors and the churches they lead.
